The NOVA Flag Football Conference playoff is a single elimination tournament for ten schools, and its quarterfinals have eight places in them. So Wednesday November 11 opens at 6:00 with two first round games, the two schools that win them play again at 8:00, and the other six schools in the field play once that evening.
The regular season finished on Wednesday November 4. The last round’s results have not been published, so no school is named in the bracket below. The bracket itself is drawn in seed numbers and that part is settled.
According to Dick Adams, the flag football commissioner at Fairfax County Public Schools, Hayfield and Falls Church host the first round and the quarterfinals, and Robinson Secondary School hosts the semifinals and the final three days later. Mr. Adams sent the bracket to coaches and school activities staff on November 2.
Seeds one, four, five, eight and nine play at Hayfield. Seeds two, three, six, seven and ten play at Falls Church. At Hayfield the eighth seed meets the ninth at 6:00, the fourth meets the fifth at 7:00, and the first seed meets the winner of the 6:00 game at 8:00. At Falls Church the seventh seed meets the tenth at 6:00, the third meets the sixth at 7:00, and the second seed meets the winner of the 6:00 game at 8:00.
The higher seed is the home team. Mr. Adams asked squads to bring both sets of jerseys, because a school that advances may find it is no longer the higher seed in its next game.
The four quarterfinal winners go to Robinson on Saturday November 14. The two that come through Hayfield meet in the 10:00 semifinal and the two from Falls Church in the 11:00, and the final is at 12:30.
How the ten schools are chosen
The champion and the runner up of each of the five pods qualify, which Mr. Adams published on November 2. Pod champions are seeded one through five and the runners up six through ten.
The seeding order comes from a point differential he set out in the same document. The most a school can earn for a win is nineteen points, a loss costs up to nineteen, a tie counts nothing either way, and a forfeit is nineteen to the winner and nineteen against the school that forfeited. Where two schools in a pod finish level, the pod championship goes to the one that won between them.
Mr. Adams sent a worked example of the seeding on November 2 and wrote in the document itself that it would move with the last week of games. Those games have been played, so the ten schools and their order go on the conference page when his final results land.
The regular season
The conference set out one hundred and fifty fixtures this season, thirty schools playing ten games each, every pair inside a pod meeting exactly twice and nobody playing outside their pod. One hundred and twenty six of them are on the conference page with a source behind each week.
The last twenty four were scheduled for Tuesday November 3 and Wednesday November 4, fourteen on the Tuesday and ten on the Wednesday. No result from either night has been published yet, and they go up when they land.
A season with no close losses in the middle
One hundred and twenty two of the one hundred and twenty six fixtures carry a score. Six of them finished level. Five were decided by a single point. Not one was decided by two, three or four points, and after the five one point games the closest in the conference are three decided by five.
The five are Woodson over West Springfield 7 to 6 on September 29, Annandale over Justice 13 to 12 and Annandale over Falls Church 7 to 6 on October 13, and Marshall over Herndon 7 to 6 and Langley over Yorktown 7 to 6, both played at Herndon on October 27.
Fairfax played in two of the six drawn games and both finished without a point, the nil and nil with Lake Braddock on September 30 and the nil and nil with Woodson on October 28. They are the only two scoreless games the conference has played.
Four schools reached the last week of the regular season without a loss. Madison are nine and nil, West Potomac nine and nil, Alexandria City eight and nil, and McLean seven, nil and one, the tie being the 6 to 6 with Washington-Liberty on September 30.
Alexandria City have conceded six points in eight games and have held the other school scoreless seven times, which is the most in the conference. Wakefield have five, and Centreville, Fairfax, Madison and Oakton four each. Fifty eight of the one hundred and twenty two games finished with one side held scoreless.
Loudoun
Lightridge are the first Loudoun County champions. No score has been published for the final, and it goes up when it lands.
Richmond is on the site
Twelve schools in Richmond, Henrico and Petersburg have been playing girls flag football since September 3, and their season went up on November 5. Thirty six fixtures are on the page and nineteen of them carry a score.
John Marshall have won five games and have not conceded a point in any of them. Henrico have won five, lost one and tied one.
Every figure on that page comes from the district results system rather than from a person, and the page says so. Whether the twelve play in a league, what it is called, and whether a postseason is coming have not been published anywhere.
What is coming
The conference’s regular season finished on Wednesday November 4. There are no conference games this week.
As far as we know, that final is the last girls flag football game of the 2026 season in Virginia.
The pod tables after week five
These are computed from the scores of all one hundred and twenty two games that carry one, with a drawn game counting as half a win. A forfeit adds a win for one school and a loss for the other and no points to either, and so does the one game the page carries as played with no score published. The four schools without a loss are marked.

The tables are sorted by winning percentage, then by wins, then alphabetically. That is our sort and not an official ranking. The conference has not published a standings order, so where two schools are level the alphabet does the work rather than anything that looks like a judgement.
Winning percentage leads because the schedule is uneven. Twelve schools have played nine of their ten games and eighteen have played eight.
The conference page carries all one hundred and twenty six fixtures with the source behind each week.
Report a score
Anyone can send us a final. The form takes about half a minute and asks for the two schools, the score and how you know. Coaches and athletic directors can send a photograph of the scoresheet instead of typing anything. Everything goes up free, credited to whoever gave it to us, and if we get something wrong we correct it and say in print that we were wrong.
